This year, in the screw-up of a school that I unfortunately attend, they have decided to have school on New Years. Why, you ask? For many reasons: The first of which is that New Years has some association with Christianity, but people--wake up! New Years has been adopted as a SECULAR HOLIDAY: there is no reason in that regard that we should not celebrate it. However, there is a second reason: last year, a group of high school kids got drunk. (Now you understand why I gave this entry that specific name.)
Now, the second reason is much more serious matter but I am not ready to give up my vacation for the (borrowing one of my teacher's terms,) "stupidies" of those idiot high schoolers.
I have tried petitioning, but to no avail. I feel that you should not have school on New Years, simply because, well, I want a day of vacation to stay up late and have fun with friends. If the school is going to be in session and it interferes with my partying then I say "NO WAY DAMMIT!"
As always, please post your comments.

Totally true although despite what the school is doing to us, I WILL NOT COME TO SCHOOL!!!!!!! My plans aren't going to be interfered with this stupid new idea...You're right New Years is a national holiday! By the way, I eavesdropped on Mr. Alster and heard that he hates the whole idea of the school having school on New Years, and that he plans on faking sick in order to spend more time with his family. He thinks that he should have this day( as well as the other teachers) as a day off and a time to relax. This is exactly what I heard straight from his office. Let us pray that if the principal hates this idea, then surely we just might have the day off...
yesm the teachers and principals all want off its that f**** board that did it!
4 words:THEY RUIN OUR LIVES!! They think that they're helping us! I think that they're fixated on trying to stop us before we start (as if). I asked Hertzberg why. Why are we having school on New Years? His reply "these High School students are out of control and that they don't want us to be setting a bad example for the future parents, giving you off and not the high school" THE PARENTS!! It's the parents' fault now. Imagine Maryles giving us a quiz!?Pinchas giving us a test? It's not right.
Typical Flatbush, blaming it on other people so that the student's won't get ticked off. And, to make matters worse for those poor high schoolers, New Year's now has a FINAL on it, when it used to be a study day. A FINAL! Well, I for one am tired of paying for the stupidities of those losers--it's the many paying for the crimes of the few. Let's go on strike! Enough of this madness!
