Another Reason to add to the list: "Why my Mother Doesn't want a GPS"

On our road trip to Canada, we borrowed my grandparents GPS. We were in the middle of Farmland, Quebec, when the melodious voice of the GPS rings throughout the car: "In 400 meters (we set it to metric), turn left; then board ferry."

Um...What?!

Sure enough, there is a ferry that goes from one end of some river, probably some part of the Saint Lawrence River, to the border of Quebec and Ontario. Excellent. But, as my mother pointed out, what would have happened if the ferry was closed. Frankly, I really don't want to know.

While on the ferry, the GPS showed us the picture of a car floating in the middle of the river, not even going in a straight line. We reach the other end of the river, and the female voice rings out again, "Alight from ferry, then turn left." Whatever.

This, by the way, is the same GPS that started misfiring on Auto-route 15 in Montreal, saying rapidly, non-stop, "Turn left, turn left, turn left, then, turn left..." with many repetitions and many "Turn right"s, and, finally, a "Turn reft."
